To season your pan, start by washing, rinsing, and drying the pan. Heat it on a range on medium-high heat, then add shortening. Use a clean, dry towel to spread the shortening and coat the pan evenly. Wipe the excess oil and allow the pan to cool. You can repeat this oil process up to 3 more times.
